Medical-Surgical Nursing By the end of this Medical-Surgical Nursing chapter, you will be able to: - Compare and contrast the three triage systems used in the ER - Apply ABCDE prioritization principles to patient care - Identify clients at risk for fluid and electrolyte imbalances - Identify clients at risk for acid-base imbalances - Teach measures to prevent fluid and electrolyte imbalances, including assessment findings and nursing interventions - Compare and contrast assessment findings of different types of shock and their corresponding nursing care Pharmacology : By the end of this Pharmacology chapter, you will be able to: - Describe major drug classifications. - Identify common drug suffixes. - Compare and contrast the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. - Compare and contrast cholinergic and anticholinergic medications. Maternal-Newborn Nursing By the end of this Maternal-Newborn Nursing chapter, you will be able to: - Identify physical assessment and nursing care for postpartum clients. - Examine common postpartum complications and appropriate nursing interventions. - Describe psychological changes during the postpartum period and relevant nursing care. - Prioritize and delegate care for postpartum clients effectively. Pediatric Nursing By the end of this Pediatric Nursing chapter, you will be able to: - Identify basic principles of pediatric medication administration - Interpret pain assessment scales - Compare concepts of death across different age groups - Identify safety measures to prevent poisoning - Recognize signs and symptoms of child abuse and understand nursing responsibilities Psychiatric Nursing By the end of this Psychiatric Nursing chapter, you will be able to: - Identify the four phases of the nurse-patient relationship - Recognize the parameters and boundaries of the nurse-patient relationship - Compare and contrast therapeutic and non-therapeutic communication - Incorporate client cultural practices and beliefs into patient care - Identify clients' legal rights - Understand legal and ethical issues affecting nursing practice.
